Here is a vintage magazine advertisement for silk mittens that were made from Florence Knitting Silk. The mittens were manufactured by the Nonotuck Silk Company. 
Plus a black and white clip art version of the mitten illustration from the ad. 
I scanned the original advertisement from the November 1892 issue of St. Nicholas magazine.
