This vintage book plate features an illustration of two beautiful Orchard Oriole birds perched on a tree branch. The dark-colored bird is a male and the light-colored bird is a female. The Orchard Oriole grows to seven inches in length.
I scanned the original book plate from Birdcraft by Mabel Osgood Wright. The artist of the illustration is Louis Agassiz Fuertes. The book was published in 1897.

Dear Sir/Madam, Please can you tell me if the bird referred to above as the Orchard Oriole,is in fact, the Golden Oriole found on mainland Europe.Thanking you,Mick.
