With an abundance of pumpkins available at this time of year, it would be the perfect time to make an old fashioned pumpkin pie! I enjoy baking but I don’t bake pies often and the pumpkin pies I have made start with pureed pumpkin from the can and I simply follow the instructions on the label. I’ve never added French brandy, Madiera or sherry to my pumpkin pie as Mrs. Beeton suggests but I bet the end result would be exquisite!
This old recipe for pumpkin pie is from Mrs. Beeton’s Book of Household Management, 1907. The page includes old fashioned recipes for Puff Paste Rings with Jam and Raspberry Tartlets as well. Yummy stuff!
