Antique Railway Letters

Here are three typewritten antique railway letters, on behalf of the Norfolk and Western Railway Co.

The first letter, dated September 7, 1901, is addressed to E.F. Gray, Esq., A.G.F.A., C.P. & V.RR., of Cincinnati,, Ohio, from J. R. Ruffin, D. F. A. (Division Freight Agent). There is a faded purple date stamp of September 10, 1901 in the upper center portion of the letter.

The second letter, dated January 19, 1903, is addressed to Mr. T. S. Rattle, A.G.F.A., C. & N. W. Ry., from J. R. Ruffin, Division Freight Agent of the Columbus, Ohio office. There is a handwritten note in the bottom left-hand corner of the letter and a date stamp of January 24, 1903 in the upper right-hand corner.

The third of the antique railway letters is dated April 7, 1908. It is addressed to Mr. H. L. Daw, Ass’t General Freight Agent – N&W Railway, of Columbus, Ohio, from J. R. Ruffin, who is now a General Freight Agent. There is a large check mark at the top of the page and a handwritten number 689 in the upper right-hand section.
