Here are three vintage gardening supplies ads.
The first advertisement is for an Iron Age Double Wheel Hoe. It includes an illustration of an old-fashioned cultivating hoe with double wheels. The hoe, with attachments pictured, was regularly priced at $8.75 but it was being offered at a special price of $7.90. A lower priced version of the hoe was available with cultivator teeth at a list price of $5.95 but it was being offered at a special price of $5.35.
The second advertisement if for Garden Hose. Four types of hose were available: Oriole, 5-ply, ¾”, in 25 and 50 foot lengths was priced at 12 cents per foot; Griffith & Turner Co.’s Extra, 3-ply, ¾”, in 25 and 50 foot lengths was priced at 14 cents per foot; Griffith, 6 ply, 3/4 “ in 25 and 50 foot lengths was priced at 15 cents per foot; Crest, 4-ply, ¾” in 25 and 50 foot lengths was priced at 16 cents per foot. The ad includes an illustration of six wound and tied garden hoses, in a variety of sizes and textures, stacked together.
The third vintage gardening ad is for a Baltimore Garden Barrows wheelbarrow. The wheelbarrow was made of seasoned wood, had double frames and was firmly bolted, iron braced and so constructed that by removing one bolt (the axle) and two nuts the wheelbarrow could be folded flat for low shipping rates. The cost for a medium size wheelbarrow with a wooden wheel was regularly $7.00 but on sale for $4.25. It was available with a steel wheel for the sale price of $4.50. The price of the large size wheelbarrow with a wooden wheel was on sale for $4.75 from $7.80 The large size wheelbarrow with a steel wheel was on sale for $5.00 from the regular price of $8.30. The ad includes an illustration of the wheelbarrow with a wooden wheel.
