Here are three shabby and aged vintage sewing pattern coupons. One of the coupons entitled the bearer to purchase pattern number 3943, a girl’s dress, for 10 cents, which was half the regular price of the pattern. The second coupon entitled the bearer to purchase pattern number 3946, a misses’ skirt pattern for 10 cents, half the regular price. The third coupon, also for 10 cents off, was for pattern number 3950, which was a ladies’ cape. The coupons were printed in red and white (now yellowed) colors for the Butterick Publishing Co. They expired on June 1, 1900.
I scanned the original coupons from the May 1900 issue of The Delineator magazine.

Thanks so much for these unique images; I just love them as I’m a seamstress.

You’re welcome Loretta. It’s wonderful that you are a seamstress! I had a good friend many years ago who was a seamstress. I greatly admired her talents and she patiently taught me how to sew (beyond the basics I learned in Home Ec class) and I appreciate her for it to this day. I don’t sew too much anymore though other than to hem a pair of pants or shorten curtains once in a while.

Well, Julie; I learned how to sew when I was 12, and my maternal grandma was a wonderful seamstress. She died when I was 10 days old, so I never met her. I love to sew for dolls, not myself. lol! I also hem a great deal of pants. I esp love the old-fashioned images of sewing items. Thanks for all your hard work.
