Here is an illustration of a young Victorian girl, named May, playing outdoors in summer. May has discovered a flower with pretty yellow wings that flies all over the garden. She calls her mother to come to the window to see. When her mother comes to have a look, she sees that her daughter has discovered a yellow butterfly. Here is the corresponding story from the vintage school reader. The page and the illustration is from Child Life A First Reader by Etta Austin Blaisdell and Mary Frances Blaisdell, 1902.
