This adorable vintage engraving, by Oscar Pletsch, features two little girls hanging doll clothes, on a makeshift clothesline, to dry. The illustration is from Little Folks and Little Friends by Oscar Pletsch, circa 1880.Â
These are wonderful! While these depict girls playing quite a long time ago, I did play like this, and a couple of my granddaughters do too. Moms need to let their children have some free time to just make up their play instead of scheduling everything for them. Thank you for these. I will use them to illustrate a family history book I am doing.

Oh, what a hoot. Kids sure don’t play like this many more. Kinda sad as that is how they learned to wash and iron.
I’m glad you like this Diana. I agree with you – kids sure don’t play like this anymore.

Peggy, I love your idea to use these in your family history book! It’s nice to know that a couple of your granddaughters play like this. 🙂
This is precious, Julie! Thanks for sharing.
