Here are two clip art images of elaborate Victorian ladies’ hats. The description for the first hat is “Misses’ Fancy Straw Hat, with fluted brim, all colors, trimmings of Roman striped ribbon and large field daisies.” In 1898 the cost of this hat was $4.48.
The description for the second hat is “Fancy Straw Brim, bell crown of French chip, rolling high on left side, folds of two tones of silk novelty cloth, side back trimming of bluet buds and buttercups, facing of chiffon.” In 1898 this hat cost $7.48.
