Here is a wonderful old dress form, referred to as a dress stand in the book. With such a large bustle, I wonder how uncomfortable it would have been for ladies to sit when fully clothed in their luxurious dresses and this wire frame under it all. The image is from Mrs. Beeton’s Book of Household Management, circa 1888.
And a black and white clip art version.

Dear Julie,
I have been meaning to comment for some time to you and express how grateful I am to you for what you do.
I cannot truly convey how much I enjoy your site since stumbling acrossed it. I find myself checking my email several times a day to see what you have sent. The Victorian Era is by far my favorite.. But I really enjoy all of the vintage images you share. They are beautiful!!
Thank you for making so many free and available each day! I just wanted you to know ;-D

Thank you for leaving such a nice message, Jill. I won’t likely always have time to add this many images each day but I have had the time lately and I’m having a lot of fun “building” my blog. It’s wonderful to know that you are enjoying the images! 🙂
