We’re in the middle of a heat wave. In central Alberta, Canada, we don’t often reach 30C (86F), even during the warmest part of our summer – but the last few days have been 30C and above. We reached 34C (93.2F) yesterday. Since our temperatures generally don’t reach these highs, most of us don’t have air conditioning in our homes and that’s making the last few days almost unbearable. I’m currently working in my home office with one fan facing me and one fan behind me – and I still find it too hot.
Unlike this article from the July 1900 issue of “The Designer” magazine suggests, I’d rather not be out of doors in this kind of heat – not unless it’s during the cool of the morning or in the evening after the sun sets. I am extremely thankful that I’m not riding the city bus to and from work in this kind of heat.
