You’re welcome Jamie. I love to collect antique books and vintage ephemera because I’m kind of hooked on being taken back to yesteryear, even if it is only for a few moments here and there. 🙂
I created the clip art by extracting the illustration from a larger scan of the same page. I converted the illustration to black and white and finished by cleaning up flaws, filling in blank areas, etc.
I’m wondering if we could follow up by e-mail. I work for an educational publisher. We’d like your permission to reprint your version of this image in a test of ours. (The original image is public domain, but because you worked on the image and made it suitable for print publication, this version of the image is yours.)
If you don’t have a home printer, you can get the image printed at your local photo lab or print shop. You can either purchase a frame and do-it-yourself if your photo lab or printer will resize the image to a common print size – or pay for a custom framing shop to frame it for you. I’ve paid for custom framing with Michael’s (the craft store) and they did a beautiful job.

Oh, this is so sweet!!! I love postings like these that take us back to yesteryear and a “kinder, gentler time”. Thanks so much.

Hi–Can I ask where you got the clip art from? Did you make it based on the scan, or get it from another source?

Please contact me at rh***@***nc.com ASAP, and thanks.
My sister loves this poem. I would like to get it framed for her as a gift. How can I go about doing this?
Thank you
