Enclosed within a circle and below the heading The Hunter’s Moon is an illustration of a boy crouched on the ground looking directly into the face of a cute rabbit. The boy is dressed for hunting but at his age, I’m assuming his rifle, that rests in the grass at his side, is a toy – or that he’s too kindhearted to harm the rabbit. The image is from the September 1885 issue of St. Nicholas magazine.
