Here are three vintage illustrations of ladies posing with parasols as they model the latest style in dresses for fall 1917. This was a period in time when the world was at war and even the style of ladies’ clothing was influenced by the war. The images are from the August 1917 issue of The Delineator magazine.

Yes! And the right-hand one in the double picture looks as if she’s wearing something similar to the female ambulance drivers in France, of which my grandmother was one.

Sadly, I don’t have any photographs of her in uniform, only a wonderful, hand-written book commemorating her service with all the names of her fellow drivers.
