When I first installed WordPress, it had a plug in enabled that displayed the lyrics to Hello Dolly on the dashboard, and the instructions explained how the song embodied the hopes and dreams of a generation. This victorian girl image is a manifestation of that ethos. She is the Mona Lisa of her age. I love everything about this photo, from the dress and the way it’s details fall into subtlety then obscurity, the the sharp detail of the flowers in her hat. Her face is youthful, and her soft gaze peaceful. The tonality of the image is hopeful, yet realistic. Every element adds up to a whole that is soothing and optimistic.
