This beautiful Victorian cabinet card features a head and shoulders photograph of a woman and a man seated next to one another. The sepia-toned photograph of the couple has been cut into an oval shape, framed with an ornate black design and mounted on a cabinet card that is finished in a dark gray material that resembles felt. The name of the company who created the card (and likely took the photograph as well) is included in the lower left corner of the card. It is “Boston Art Co” of La Crosse, Wis.

You’re welcome Linda. I’ve been sorting through my collection of vintage items for a second Etsy shop I’ve just opened (to sell some of my originals) and forgot I had purchased several cabinet cards a few years ago. It was fun to “find” them again!

What a beautiful cabinet card! I will replace their photo with my own family heirloom photo, though the photo included is lovely.

Brilliant idea Peggy!

Wonderful cabinet card, I am familiar where La Crosse is. It’s a rarity to find people smiling in these old photos but when I do it’s refreshing. Hard life back then, not much to smile about.

Hi Linda,
I’m glad you like it. 🙂
I think the photographic image processing took longer as well and the subjects had to hold as still as possible. As a result, I think(?) smiling was discouraged because it was more difficult to hold a smile than a stiff pose.

What a great photograph. Thanks for sharing.
I wonder how their lives turned out?

You’re welcome Carole. I always wonder that too when I see these old photographs.
