I thought you might enjoy reading, baking, or designing with, this shabby and aged vintage recipe for Christmas Plum Pudding. The recipe is from an old notebook of handwritten recipes I purchased at a garage sale many years ago.

How fun! I have a very similar handwritten recipe for English Plum Pudding from my grandma!

Perfect? Just what I needed for a Christmas journal I’m making. Thank you so much. I spend far too much time viewing your wonderful site!

That’s interesting Peggy. Do you remember your grandma making it and whether or not you enjoyed the taste of it?
It’s great to know that you’ll be able to use this in your journal Patricia and I’m happy to know that you’re enjoying my site. I’ve been spending far too much time admiring junk journals on Pinterest and YouTube lately. 🙂

Thanks for posting this recipe Julie. I haven’t made plum budding in years. It was a tradition in our house that everyone had to stir the plum pudding. Even after we had all moved away and had families of our own wewould try to get home when the puddings were being made. Another tradition was that Mom wrapped coins and tiny surprises in parchment to go in the pudding. Not sure if they went in before steaming or after it was cooked. Thanks so much for the memory

You’re welcome Sharon. Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories of plum pudding. My distant memories of my grandmother’s plum pudding is that it was very good, especially with, or perhaps because of, the sauce. My son and daughter in law will be staying with me for a few days over the holidays. Perhaps I will ask her if she would like to to try making plum pudding with me. 🙂
Your memories also remind me that my mom would wrap coins in wax paper and tuck them into birthday cakes back in the day.

Not sure I’ll make a pudding…not much of a cook…grin. Thank you for graphic. It will work well as a background some day.

Christine, I’m glad you’ll be able to use if for a background one day. 🙂
