Here is a vintage clip art image of an aneroid barometer. Following is a brief description from the book I scanned the image from:
“If carefully made and adjusted, the aneroid is quite as reliable as the mercurial barometer, and may be specially recommended for household use… and is lettered with the familiar indications of the wheel and household instruments – “Stormy”, “Much Rain”, “Rain”, “Change”, “Fair”, “Set Fair”, and “Very Dry”.
