Thanks for that interesting information Laurie! They are labelled “Straw Hives” in the book but I was curious to learn what skep meant after reading your comment since that’s a new word to me. A skep is defined as a straw or wicker beehive.

Those are bee skeps, not hives. The bees make hives, we make skeps.
