Here is a clip art image of a small, quaint, two-story Victorian cottage. A woman is on the front walk with open arms to greet a child walking toward her.
The final sentence of the chapter this image is from states, “At present prices, this house can be built here, all complete, for six hundred dollars.” The illustration is from Our Homes and Their Adornments by Almon C. Varney, 1882.
Here is a sketch of the floor plan of the first floor of the cottage. The book does not include the second floor plan.
