This delicious looking loaf of homemade raisin bread is cooling on a round, flat, decorated stone. Half of the loaf has been sliced; half remains unsliced. The image is from Balanced Daily Diet, a small cookbook by Janet McKenzie Hill, 1921.

Great image. Reminds me winter days at home when I was young and My Mother would give make me Raisin toast during the ‘Snowbound Theater’ hour in the morning as we were snowed in and school got cancelled. Cool memory today. Thanks! 🙂

Thank you for sharing that wonderfully cozy and fun memory, Echo!
🙂 Elaine. Especially homemade, while it’s still warm, with a little real butter – and jam.
