I scanned this page from a French legal sale document, dated 1860. The complete document is seven pages long with a cover and an additional smaller, loose page that is folded and tucked into the document. I plan to upload at least a couple more of the pages in the near future. I wish I knew what the sale item was but I don’t speak or read French.

From what I was able to read of it, it seems like it’s related to the sale of a house of some sort. It’s hard to read, not because of the calligraphy or the words, but because most, if not all, of the u, m and n, are drawn in pieces. For example; the name Napoleon has the last “n” in two pieces. Third line; Empereur, here the “m” is divided in three parts. Furthermore, most of the “s” are written in the old style that ressemble an “f”. At least, being written in 1860, it’s closer to modern french then old french, which makes it more readable. This type of calligraphy is beautiful, but with the habit of writing and reading in block letters, it’s hard to read. Hope it helps.
