My birthday is not officially until November 21st but I purchased my gift today! It’s a Harrison Fisher book to add to my collection. I am thrilled to bits but when I purchased the book, my adrenaline wasn’t pumping and my heart wasn’t racing. This was an ebay “Buy it Now” offer that I’ve had my eye on for weeks. Not an impulse purchase – but it is the most expensive book I have ever bought.
The book’s title is, “A Girl’s Life and Other Pictures”, by Harrison Fisher, published in 1913. I asked for a discount of $30 off the selling price and for the $20 shipping fee to be waived. The seller agreed and my final invoice was $600.
There are currently (November 9, 2011) five copies of this book for sale at abebooks.com (one of my favorite places to buy antique books), ranging in price from $898 to $2250. Only 6,250 copies of this rare book were ever printed so I consider $600 a great bargain for my “new” book – and if you like Harrison Fisher images, the few dollars you’ll pay for the digital images I restore is an even better deal! 😉
Here are six previews of the 16 Harrison Fisher images that are included in the book:

Thank you Pauline, you are awesome! A little addictive, yes. I don’t want expensive jewelry, I don’t want trips, or any other fancy things. I just want…old books! I love, love, love books! 🙂

Wow! Gulp! That is a lot for a book. It does have some gorgeous images though.
