Here is an illustrated vintage poem of pigeons eating seeds from the ground. The poem tells how the birds come when called and eat breakfast at the feet of those calling, “For kindness makes them tame and sweet”. Here is a black and white clip art version of the pigeons eating seeds from the ground. I scanned the original image from the children’s book Visit to the Farm by Koerner & Hayes, 1896.
The faint image of the horse that appears on my original scan is an image on the corresponding page that has superimposed onto this page over the years. I posted the horse illustration to my blog some time ago. You can find it here if you are interested.
